What is a puja room, you ask? "Puja" (Sanskrit for reverence or worship)
is a Hindu religious ritual performed as an offering for deities, distinguished
persons, or special guests. More elaborate pujas are done in public temples,
but there’s also a daily puja that many Hindus perform at home. The place where
they perform the ritual is called—you guessed it!—the Puja Room.
The rules for puja
feng-shui are many and complicated, but should you want to set up your own, all
the experts pretty much agree that it should be in the northeast corner of the house—not,
under any circumstances, located next to a bathroom—and kept immaculately clean
at all times; white, light blue and light yellow are particularly auspicious
colors for the walls, and images of gods/deities are allowed to face any
direction except south.
