Check out where we found it!

El Alto, where you can find everything from car parts, to cell phones, to soccer balls, as well as llamas, snakes in jars, live lizards (which we were told can cure just about every disease out there), and even the odd box of wet-nosed puppies.

Destination: La Paz, Bolivia

Talk about second lives. Flour bags are one of those items capable of many incarnations, and we’re keeping a running tally of all the things you can do with them. We’ve seen them used as pillowcases, wall hangings, and also, with the help of a pair of scissors and needle and thread, refashioned into some pretty groovy tote bags. We found these ones in the vast market of El Alto, where you can buy everything from transistor radios to puppies.
