The Berber calls themselves Amazigh, or ‘free man’, and this vintage blind knot rug represents many of the traditions that define the Berber way of life. Hand-woven by the Imazighen women of the Azilal province in the mid-Atlas Mountains, this plush rug is created with natural wool fibers dyed with local products such as henna and indigo. The red represents strength, the blue wisdom and the design motifs evoke everything from the renewal of the land to the evolution of man.
