Beijing Opera, a form of traditional Chinese theater that began in the late 18th century, is famous for its many types of facial makeup, meant to express certain character traits. The example here was made using a stencil cut by our friend Ray Tan Aik Leng, a second-generation Malaysian, whose grandfather came over from China.
