The Zapotec diamond at the center of this beautiful, earth-toned rug is said to represent God’s eye and insight into future events, while the four-stepped greca motif running along either side is symbolic of the four stages of life—birth, childhood, youth, and maturity. Made from wool gathered in the mountains of Oaxaca, this richly hued rug was hand-loomed and hand-dyed at the workshop of Alexandro Mendoza in the famous weaving village of Teotitlán del Valle.
