Hummingbird Natural Fiber Floor Mat

Sold Out!

Destination: Mumbai, India

Handmade with natural fibers, this kind of floor mat is a common sight in most Indian households, where people use them for sleeping and sitting. We found it at Kaderi Stores in Bohri Mohalla, commonly known as “Bhendi Bazaar.” Bhendi is to the north of Crawford Market, and got its name because British folks living to the south used to refer to the area on the other side as “Behind the Bazaar”—which locals took as “Bhendi Bazaar.” Today, Bhendi is a popular destination for brass and stainless steel, and also enjoys a certain reputation for having been home to Forbes’ No. 3 Most Dreaded Criminal in the World, Indian mob boss Dawood Ibrahim.
