Destination: Kumasi , Ghana

The design for this mask is based on those of the Fang people of Equatorial Guinea, Cameroon and Gabon. Fang masks typically feature elongated, heart-shaped faces and long, fine noses. This one, crafted in Ghana by Master Carver Nana Frimpong Boady, is a modern take on the traditional Fang style. Nana, who serves as the Chief Carver to King Otumfao Osei Tutu II, opened up shop in 1971.
