• A few old homes known as havelis owned by rich textile merchants still remain in Alwar and the surrounding areas. They have grand exteriors, with heavily detailed trellis work and this house has figures of Laxmi – the Goddess of wealth, carved into this to bless the house. At the entrance, below the trellis work is the merchant's name "Durgaprasad".
