• If you ask vendors in La Paz where they come from, they will almost always say Potosí. Called “the Paris of South America” in the days when silver flowed from the Cerro Rico at approximately the rate of water from a fire hydrant, today Potosí is a poor mining town. Many have picked up their things and headed to north to La Paz to try their luck. Here are a few of their stories.
