• If you head south on Avenida 16 de Julio, and take a left on Tiwanaku, just before you hit the Plaza de Estudiantes, you’ll pass a hotel called El Consulado, which is where we stayed on our visit. The former residence of the Consul of Panama, El Consulado is an excellent choice of lodging, not least because of the arresting x-ray llama we found just behind the hotel on the corner of Batallion Colorales and Federico Zuarzo.
