• Okay, okay, you might be saying, so Bolivian love stories abound, but lovers don’t a country—or for that matter, a history—make. As Christian Jorge’s mother-in-law used to say: “No puedes vivir solo de amor,” or, “You can’t live on love alone.” As we learned on our visit, Bolivian history is full of folks whose love for each other was rivaled only by their love of freedom, and their centuries-long fight to obtain it is the stuff of legends.
