Beijing is a city of contrasts. The New Beijing with its traffic filled freeways, state of the art high-rises and incredible innovative architecture is a world away from the alleyways in Old Beijing. These streets harken back to an old peaceful way of life with rickshaws and simple homes no higher than one story. And, even though cars rule the roads in the New Beijing, Beijingers in the Old City still bicycle everywhere.
