• Panjiayuan Flea Market, Beijing, China

This is Panjiayuan, one of the best outdoor antique flea markets in all of Asia. Within the walled market are venders who have been coming here for generations. On weekends it is brimming with treasure like vintage revolutionary posters and books, jade, carved Buddhas, and Chairman Mao communist memorabilia. There are folk artists, Tibetans in their brightly colored robes and hill tribe people wearing hand embroidered vintage fabrics. It takes all day to wander the lanes filled with old calligraphy brushes, lanterns, beads and old ceramic dishes.

Photography and words by Jacqueline Frank. In this feature "The Traveler", people from around the world share their travel stories and street -market finds.
